Pakistan chooses to bat first against Nepal after winning the toss
In the opening match of the Asia Cup at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, won the toss and chose to bat against Nepal on Thursday.
Pakistan, the top-ranked ODI team and two-time Asia Cup champions, is facing Nepal in this format for the first time. Nepal, which gained ODI status in 2018, is making its debut in the Asia Cup after winning the inaugural ACC Men’s Premier Cup earlier this year.
Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, mentioned that the pitch appeared very dry and shiny. He also noted that they had refrained from naming the playing XI earlier to instill confidence in the team. He acknowledged the pressure that comes with being the top-ranked team but expressed their intention to enjoy the game and give their best.
Nepal’s captain, Rohit Paudel, expressed the team’s excitement about playing their first Asia Cup game. He remarked that everyone in Nepal was thrilled about the match and that the conditions were similar to those in Nepal. Paudel also described the pitch as looking good for batting.
