Five people are arrested and drugs worth Rs 5 crore are seized by the Assam Police.
In two distinct incidents, Assam Police confiscated drugs valued at Rs 5 crore in Cachar district and detained five individuals in relation to these cases, as reported on Monday. The drugs were seized from two different locations near the interstate borders with Manipur and Mizoram.
Acting on a tip-off, an operation was carried out on Sunday evening along the Kulicharra-Idgah road in the Dholai area, close to the Manipur border. “During a highway inspection, suspected heroin was discovered concealed inside a few soap boxes within a vehicle,” said a police officer.
In total, approximately 780 grams of contraband were recovered, and Anam Uddin Talukdar, Bachan Ali Sekh, and Fayeh Ahmed Mazumder were arrested on charges related to drug trafficking.
In another operation on Sunday night along the Sonai-Kabuganj Road near the Mizoram border, the district police seized 120 grams of suspected heroin. Two individuals, Mehbub Alom Mazumder and Abul Hussain Laskar, were apprehended in connection with the drug seizure.
