The Baahubali saga is making a grand return! Director SS Rajamouli has officially announced that the two iconic films will now be presented as one seamless epic, titled Baahubali: The Epic. The teaser, which dropped yesterday, has already sent fans into a frenzy, though many are curious about which scenes made it into the final cut.
Speaking in a recent interview, Rajamouli finally offered some clarity. He revealed that combining the two films—originally spanning a runtime of 5 hours and 27 minutes—into a single version was one of the toughest creative challenges of his career. “Every scene and song in Baahubali is precious to me. Deciding what to keep and what to sacrifice sparked intense debates and heated arguments within the team,” he admitted.
Among the sacrifices are the much-discussed Kannaa Nidurinchara song and a few romantic sequences between Shivudu (Prabhas) and Avanthika (Tamannaah Bhatia). Interestingly, these were the same portions that drew criticism when the films were first released.
Originally, Rajamouli envisioned Baahubali as one film, but due to the vast scale, it was split into two parts. Now, a decade later, the makers are fulfilling that vision with this special edition. Fans can also look forward to a few surprises, as Rajamouli teased that Baahubali: The Epic will bring fresh elements to keep audiences hooked all over again.
With its new avatar, Baahubali: The Epic is set to rekindle the magic of one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated franchises, proving yet again why Rajamouli is hailed as a master storyteller.
