The Central Government recently announced the Padma Awards on the occasion of Republic Day, honoring exceptional contributions across various fields. Among the recipients, Nandamuri Balakrishna has been selected for the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award in recognition of his significant services to the film industry.
Expressing his gratitude, Balakrishna stated, “I am very happy to receive the Padma Bhushan Award. My sincere thanks to the Central Government. I see this award as a responsibility rather than just a title.”
Balakrishna further emphasized his admiration for his father, the legendary Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). He said, “I consider myself fortunate to have been born as NTR’s son. It is my heartfelt wish, and the wish of all Telugu people, to see NTR honored with the Bharat Ratna. NTR made immense contributions as the former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh and as a legendary actor. I urge the Central Government to bestow the Bharat Ratna upon such a great man.”
Apart from Balakrishna, other prominent personalities selected for the Padma Bhushan Award include Tamil star hero Ajith Kumar and veteran actress Shobana, among others.
