Former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly speaking at the India Today Conclave East 2017 said that he was desperate to become the coach of the Indian Cricket Team. ‘After I got into administration, I was desperate to become the coach of the Indian cricket team. Even Jaganmohan Dalmia said ‘why don’t you try it for six months’. But after his death, I had no one around me. I became the CAB President. It takes 20 years for someone to become the President’, said Sourav Ganguly.
The former skipper opened up on various other things during his time. ‘After I announced my retirement, Sachin said I could play for some more years, and I was in my best flow in the last three years. I said him not because I had enough sport, but because I had enough of getting selected all the time,’ said Ganguly.
Ganguly also applauded the way Kohli is respecting Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He said, ‘you look at Dhoni. He is no more the captain of the team. But look at the way Kohli looks after him’.
Ganguly is currently the honorable CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) President. He earned the name ‘God of Off-side’ for his elegant stroke play through the covers and square of the wicket.
