Day1: Bhagwant @ 32+ Cr, LEO @ 140 Cr?

Date:

On their first day of release, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagwant Kesari and Vijay‘s Leo, which were both released the other day, had a phenomenal start at the box office. Leo has surpassed all expectations by setting a record for the highest grossing Tamil film ever, even though Balayya’s film was quite good.

Balayya’s Bhagwant Kesari grossed ₹32.33 crore, according to official figures released by the producers, with mass pockets and class centers picking up hugely by the evening. Due to the poignant second half, the shows really took off at night, and Friday reservations are also looking promising. Nevertheless, the movie is performing a little worse in the USA than anticipated because people were hoping for more of a thunderous, Akhanda-like scene.

Regarding Leo, the Tamil version broke all previous records for a Tamil film and performed incredibly well in Telugu states, grossing almost ₹18–20 crores on the first day of release. According to Tamil trade analysts, Leo’s earnings from the Tamil version alone are estimated to have exceeded ₹100 crores, with the remaining languages contributing an additional 40+ crores. Even though the Hindi version hasn’t performed as anticipated, Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Tamil film opened with a phenomenal 140+ crores in all languages.

Given the benefits of the long weekend and Dasara holidays, it will be interesting to watch how these movies perform on Day 2 and the opening weekend.
