Biden Eager for India Trip but Disappointed by Xi’s Absence at G20 Summit:
President Joe Biden has voiced his excitement about his upcoming journey to India this week while expressing his disappointment that his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, will not be attending the G20 summit in New Delhi. The White House announced that Biden will be traveling to India on September 7 to participate in the G20 Summit and will engage in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8, held on the sidelines of this historic gathering.
As the current president of the G20, India is hosting the annual summit of this influential group in New Delhi on September 9 and 10. When questioned by reporters before his trip, He was asked whether he was looking forward to his visits to India and Vietnam, to which he responded, “Yes, I am.”
Biden expressed his disappointment regarding the absence of Chinese President Xi Jinping from the summit in New Delhi, stating in response to a question, “I am disappointed, but I am going to get to see him.”
