Om Birla was elected as the 17th Lok Sabha Speaker unanimously.
Prime Minister Modi and Opposition Leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary took him to the post of Speaker.
BJP surprised by unveiling the name of Rajasthan’s quota parliamentarian Om Prakash Birla, who swiped 25 seats in the recent general election.
Birla will take over the mantle from Sumitra Mahajan, who opted out of the Lok Sabha elections this time. He was elected from the Kota-Bundi parliamentary constituency to the Lok Sabha.
