The BRS has taken a firm stand against the defection of MLCs Patnam Mahender Reddy and Kusukuntla Damodar Reddy, who recently switched sides to join the ruling Congress party. In response to this, the BRS Legislative Party members submitted a formal representation to Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, urging immediate action.
BRS MLC Seri Subhash Reddy emphasized that both Reddy and Damodar Reddy were elected to the Telangana Legislative Council on the BRS B-form. However, their decision to defect to the Congress party has triggered action under the Anti-Defection Law. Subhash Reddy expressed hope that the Council Chairman would positively respond to their plea and disqualify both MLCs, as they have provided all relevant documents and evidence to support their case.
The BRS MLCs’ initiative to approach the Council Chairman was guided by directives from the party president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The party leadership has made it clear that defectors will not be spared, and they have previously filed a complaint with Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad against Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender for switching allegiance to the Congress party.
