Director Buchi Babu Sana has revealed that Peddi was written exclusively for Ram Charan. He shared that the idea took shape well before his debut Uppena released, during discussions about a possible OTT launch. When mentor Sukumar asked if he had a new idea, Buchi narrated a brief line that Sukumar immediately found unique.
The director said he later developed the script at the Dattathreya temple in Pithapuram, firmly deciding that Ram Charan would portray a jaggery factory worker named Peddi. “Back then, if I had told anyone I was planning a film with Ram Charan garu, they wouldn’t have believed it,” he added.
The sports action drama stars Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, with music composed by A. R. Rahman.
