Carlos Alcaraz, who holds the top ranking, secured his first victory following his Wimbledon triumph by defeating Ben Shelton with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (3) at the National Bank Open on Wednesday evening.
As he gears up for his U.S. Open title defense, the 20-year-old Alcaraz extended his winning streak to 13 matches, which includes his victory at the Queen’s tournament. This talented Spanish player has clinched six titles throughout the year. Shelton, on the other hand, made a notable impression with his powerful serve consistently reaching speeds above 230 kph, and he showcased impressive agility for a player of his size.
