CBI Files Case Against Vizag Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal for Admissions Fraud
The CBI’s ACB wing in Visakhapatnam has filed cases against Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal S. Sreenivasa Raj for allegedly admitting 193 ineligible students using fake service certificates, which were supposedly issued by various central government departments.
The principal is accused of accepting bribes from the parents of these students to facilitate their admissions. The CBI has registered two FIRs against Raj, one for admitting 124 ineligible students for the academic year 2022-23 and another for 69 such students in the 2021-22 academic year. These irregularities came to light during a surprise Central Bureau of Investigation check conducted at KV Waltair on May 3 and 4, 2023.
The investigation found that Raj conspired with their parents to provide admissions without proper verification and received financial benefits in his bank accounts through UPI transactions. This fraudulent activity deprived deserving students of admission opportunities. The action against Raj was initiated with the approval of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Commissioner, Nidhi Pandey, and falls under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
