Convicted Receives 10-Year Prison Sentence in Sexual Assault Case: POSCO case
In a POSCO case originating from the Chirala II Town police station limits, the accused, identified as Gorremuchu Chandra Babu alias Koteswara Rao, has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000. This incident occurred in 2022, and the verdict was delivered by Judge Somasekhar in the Ongole POCSO court.
According to the case details, the victim was a minor girl residing in Ujilipeta, Perala, within Chirala II town. The accused, who was involved in an extramarital relationship with the girl’s mother, went to the school and took the girl to NTR Nagar. They were dropped off at a temple in NTR Nagar by an unidentified motorcyclist, after which the accused brought her to his residence and committed the sexual assault.
When the victim’s mother arrived at the school to pick up her daughter and discovered that the accused had taken her away, she and a relative hurried to the accused’s house in NTR Nagar. Upon their arrival, the accused fled from the scene.
The police promptly registered the case as part of Assault and conducted a swift investigation. Bapatla SP Vakul Jindal noted that the court monitoring system had proven effective in addressing such crimes.
