Coolie & War 2 Box Office Update: Independence Day Biggies Struggle in North America

The much-hyped Independence Day releases, Coolie and War 2, failed to live up to their massive expectations and are now heading toward loss-making ventures in both domestic and overseas markets. Despite strong buzz, both biggies received mixed reviews and couldn’t sustain momentum at the ticket counters.

In North America, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie created history with a record-breaking $3M premiere gross, the highest ever for a Tamil film. However, its run slowed down quickly, adding just $3.79M later, taking its total to $6.79M. The Telugu version contributed $1.84M.

On the other hand, NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 managed a little over $4M in the region, with the Telugu version falling short of expectations at under $1M.

Given their huge star casts and massive budgets, both Coolie and War 2 were expected to dominate box office charts. But poor word of mouth and mixed responses have left them struggling to reach profitability.
