Gurugram will launch its Covid-19 vaccination drive on January 16 at six vaccination centers, health officials said on Tuesday.
The officials said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off the vaccine campaign through video conferencing on January 16, where he will interact with the frontline health workers.
The event is scheduled to be held at the Covid vaccination center in Wazirabad.
Virendra Yadav, Civil Surgeon of Gurugram held a meeting with the representatives of private facilities, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) and Community Health Centre (CHC) on Monday regarding the drive.
“In the first phase, the health workers will be vaccinated at six centers which include Wazirabad government primary school, Daulatabad government primary school, Medanta Medicity Sector – 39, Urban PHC Choma, SGT medical college Gurugram and primary health center Bhangrola,” Yadav said.
“We have strictly directed all the health staff that negligence in vaccination drives will not be tolerated at all. Experienced manpower is being deployed for vaccination so that it goes smoothly,” he added.
The Civil Surgeon said that the vaccine will not be administered to children below 14 years and pregnant women.
“The vaccine will be used in 2 doses. After the first dose, the person will be administered the second dose in a gap of about 28 days. Once the vaccine dose is completed, the person will be given a certificate that he has received both the doses of the corona vaccine,” he added.
