The distressed students were concerned about the substantial loss of time

However, they were sent back after immigration officers inspected their documents and briefly detained them. The majority of these students had landed at airports in Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco.

The Indian students expressed that they were not provided with sufficient information regarding the reasons for their deportation and assumed that issues with their visa paperwork might have been the cause. Some students mentioned that their mobile phones and even WhatsApp conversations were scrutinized.

A few of them reported that they were instructed to depart calmly and were cautioned about potential severe legal consequences if they raised objections. Among the universities these students were planning to attend were those situated in the states of Missouri and South Dakota.

The distressed students were concerned about the substantial loss of time, money, and future prospects resulting from their deportation. This was compounded by the strict regulations in the USA, which include a five-year ban for those who are expelled or deported on grounds of inadmissibility.
