Remembering the efforts of several personalities of Jharkhand, President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday said cricketer MS Dhoni has made Ranchi popular in the universe of cricket. The President was conversing with students during the 33rd conference of the Ranchi University. “MS Dhoni joined me at Raj Bhavan yesterday (Sunday) as a courtesy call. It seemed good. I advised him as he keeps a low profile but people are affectionate of him as he is talented,” President Kovind said.
Mr.Konvind also appreciated the achievements of ace archer Deepika Kumari and Jaipal Singh Munda, who had traversed the Indian hockey side that won gold in the 1928 Olympics, as both were from the same state.
President Kovind said Jharkhand has also presented people like Albert Ekka, who was posthumously awarded with the Param Veer Chakra for his fearlessness during the 1971 War.
He stated that Chief Minister Raghubar Das and retired Supreme Court judge, Justice MY Iqbal, are amongst prominent alumni of the Ranchi University.
President Kovind also shared the dais with First Lady Savita Kovind, Ranchi Governor Droupadi Murmu, the state chief minister Raghubar Das, Education Minister Neera Yadav, Ranchi University vice-president RK Pandey and Kamini Kumar.
