Dil Raju’s “Dil Se” Appeal: Attend Film Awards, Support the Industry
Veteran producer Dil Raju has made a heartfelt appeal to the Tollywood film fraternity, urging actors, directors, technicians, and producers to prioritize their presence at government-organized film award functions, regardless of their busy shooting schedules.
His emotional message, which he called a “Dil Se appeal,” came in the wake of the Telangana State Film Awards, recently held at Hyderabad Hitex, where Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was the chief guest. Organized by the Telangana Film Development Corporation, the event—dubbed “Praja Yuddha Nauka Gaddar Awards”—celebrated the contributions of actors, technicians, and films that excelled over the past few years. Along with recognition, winners received certificates and cash prizes.
While the event marked a celebratory return of film awards after a 14-year gap, it wasn’t without controversy. Many prominent award recipients failed to show up, which reportedly disappointed the organizers.
A Call for Collective Responsibility
In response, Dil Raju addressed the issue, urging the industry to come together in the spirit of unity.
“No matter what state you’re from, and no matter how tight your shooting schedules are, it’s your responsibility to attend such events. Please don’t skip them,” he emphasized.
He highlighted that the film industry must stand as one, especially when governments are stepping up to recognize and honor talent. Raju also reminded everyone that a similar film awards event will be hosted soon in Andhra Pradesh, and his message served as a preemptive request to avoid a repeat of Telangana’s partial turnout.
Why It Matters
The underlying concern is that when leading stars and filmmakers skip such prestigious ceremonies, it sends the wrong signal about the industry’s commitment to cultural celebrations and collaboration with the government.
Dil Raju’s tone was sincere but firm—his message was not about criticism but about industry integrity and pride. His appeal reflects a larger vision: to elevate the stature of Tollywood and encourage mutual respect between artists and institutions that support them.
