Dil Raju Faces ₹35 Crore Loss with Thammudu – Another Box Office Setback

Thammudu Turns Disaster: Dil Raju Reportedly Facing ₹35 Crore Loss

Once a master of budget control and box office hits, Dil Raju’s latest film, Thammudu, delivers a crushing blow to his production house

There was a time when Dil Raju was celebrated as one of the most successful and strategic producers in Telugu cinema, known for tight budgets, strong scripts, and box office gold. But those golden days seem far behind. After a string of disappointments, his latest project, Thammudu, has added to his woes, reportedly resulting in a massive loss of nearly ₹35 crore.

Budget vs Reality: Where It Went Wrong

Thammudu, directed by Venu Sriram and starring Nithiin, was made on an estimated budget of around ₹70 crore. Despite the scale, the film failed to generate traction at the box office. Theatrical returns were so poor that the film barely recovered 10% of its projected theatrical valuation.

Adding to the strain, non-theatrical rights such as satellite and OTT sales managed to bring in some revenue, but it wasn’t enough to salvage the financial damage. Even with director Venu Sriram and lead actor Nithiin waiving their remuneration, the recovery fell far short of expectations.

Dil Raju’s Declining Streak Continues

Once praised for his sharp production choices and business acumen, Dil Raju now finds himself in a prolonged slump. His recent projects have struggled both critically and commercially, and Thammudu only deepens the financial crisis facing his production house.

With reports pegging the losses at ₹35 crore, this project might take a longer-than-expected time to recover from—if at all. Dil Raju was once extremely confident about Thammudu’s potential, but the film’s failure has now become a cautionary tale about ambition exceeding market demand.
