EAM Jaishankar Highlights Concerns About the Situation in Canada:
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the need for dialogue between the governments of India and Canada to address their differences concerning the death of a Khalistani separatist. He stressed that the broader issue of “permissiveness” should be acknowledged and tackled.
Speaking to Indian journalists, He stated that India is open to examining any information related to Canada’s allegations of the potential involvement of Indian agents in the incident concerning the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar on June 18 in British Columbia.
He provided clarification, stating, “Here is the current situation: Canada has put forth specific allegations. We have informed them that these allegations do not represent the policy of the Indian government. However, if they are willing to provide us with specific and relevant information, we are open to considering it. Therefore, that is the current status of the matter.”
Jaishankar underscored the importance of not isolating the incident, emphasizing that such an approach would not present an accurate perspective.
