Indian badminton stars P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen advanced to the quarterfinals of the US Open, BWF Super 300 tournament, with convincing wins in their respective Round of 16 matches. Sindhu defeated Sung Shuo Yun of Chinese Taipei in straight games, while Lakshya overcame Jan Louda from the Czech Republic.
Sindhu initially struggled but found her rhythm as the match progressed, taking a commanding lead and ultimately winning in 37 minutes. In the next round, she will face Gao Fang Jie from China, against whom she has won only once in their previous four encounters.
Lakshya had a strong start, comfortably winning the first game. The second game presented a tougher challenge as he trailed Louda 19-14. However, he showed great resilience, equalizing the score at 19-all and eventually securing victory in a thrilling 39-minute match. In the quarterfinals, Lakshya will face his fellow Indian player S. Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian, who defeated Israel’s Misha Zilberman in a three-game battle.
