Elon Musk Announces Remarkable Doubling of Video Viewership on X Since Last Year :
Elon Musk made an announcement on Monday regarding the significant growth in video viewership on X Corp, formerly known as Twitter, indicating that it has nearly doubled since the previous year. Musk’s acquisition of the social media network for $44 billion in October has been accompanied by efforts to transform it into an all-encompassing platform.
Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X, also noted a substantial increase in video streaming compared to the previous year, aligning with Musk’s vision to evolve the platform into what he refers to as “the everything app.” Musk himself confirmed the surge in video viewership, stating that it has approximately doubled compared to the previous year.
This announcement followed the breaking of records by F1 racer Max Verstappen during the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday. Yaccarino celebrated the achievements by stating, “Records all around: Verstappen. F1. X video views are up 90 percent compared to last year.” In the recent past, X, under Musk’s ownership, unveiled enhancements for premium subscribers.
Users can now post longer videos, with the option to upload up to two hours of content in 1080p quality or three hours in 720p quality. Additionally, paid subscribers now have the capability to download videos from their timeline to their camera roll and can control the download option for videos they share.
The company is also gearing up to introduce video and audio call features compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC platforms. Musk emphasized that no phone numbers will be required to make these calls, a feature intended to simplify communication. Musk anticipated these developments, stating, “Video & audio calls coming to X – Works on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC — No phone number needed — X is the effective global address book.” He emphasized that this combination of features is truly unique and transformative.
