The 158 kilometers Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad has come into complete accessibility. It has been 12 years since the construction works of the ORR have begun. The 8-line 158-kilometer highway construction started on May 29th, 2006 by the Congress Government in the united AP. Initially, it was planned to be completed by 2012.
Due to various legal litigations, and court cases, the construction works have been stalled, and we’re going at a snail’s pace. There are a total of 19 interchanges along the ORR, out of which Kandlakoya Interchange is the most important.
There have been a lot of allegations on the design near the Kandlakoya junction. Many farmers went to the High C Kandlakoya Interchange ourt after they had lost their lands in the land acquisition. It was only in November 2015, the works resumed at the junction. The judgment came in the favor of the farmers at that time.
Due to this, the works have been stalled, and a change in design further increased the road’s length. Overall, the road’s length was increased to 3 km from 1.1 km because of the change in the design. The Kandlakoya junction has been recently completed, bringing the entire ORR into accessibility.
