Specialized Training at Vizag Railway Stadium Empowers Women Footballers:
The Vizag Railway Stadium is currently hosting the All India Railway Women’s Football Coaching Camp, featuring the inaugural batch of female footballers receiving specialized training. A total of 24 female players from various railway zones are participating in this training program, which began on August 21 and is scheduled to conclude on September 20.
The primary aim is to prepare these athletes for the prestigious senior national railway tournament. One of the participants is Manpreet Kaur, an experienced footballer who has represented the Railway Football Team on seven occasions. At 33 years of age, she initiated her football journey at the age of 12.
In an interview with News, Kaur emphasized the importance of granting equal recognition to female sports. She pointed out that while women’s cricket has gained prominence, it is crucial for other sports to receive similar attention. Kaur also highlighted the financial challenges faced by female players, noting that they often lack support from their families or other sources. She expressed concerns about disparities in amenities and healthcare between male and female athletes, emphasizing the need for more recognition and essential resources for women in sports.
