Gallagher Rescues Chelsea: FA Cup Drama at Stamford Bridge

Date:

Conor Gallagher emerged as the hero for Chelsea, securing a 3-2 victory over Leeds United in the FA Cup fifth-round clash at Stamford Bridge. The win came as a redemption for Chelsea following their recent EFL Cup final loss to Liverpool.

Leeds initially stunned Chelsea by taking the lead through Mateo Joseph after capitalizing on a risky pass from Axel Disasi. However, Chelsea quickly equalized as Nicholas Jackson found the net with a precise finish, leveling the score within seven minutes.

Chelsea then seized control with Mykhailo Mudryk’s superb goal, brilliantly converting a pass from Raheem Sterling to put the hosts ahead. Despite Leeds’ persistent possession, they managed to equalize again through Joseph’s header from Jaidon Anthony’s cross.

However, it was substitute Conor Gallagher who ultimately sealed Chelsea’s victory in the dying moments of the match, scoring with a composed finish and securing their spot in the quarterfinals against Leicester City.

In other FA Cup fixtures, Manchester United narrowly edged past Nottingham Forest with Casemiro scoring a late winner, while Wolves secured a 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion thanks to Mario Lemina’s goal. Additionally, Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 win against Southampton, setting up a highly anticipated quarter-final clash with Manchester United.
