Amidst escalating tensions between BRS senior leader Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over the implementation of the Congress government’s six guarantees, Harish Rao made a bold statement by arriving at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial in Gun Park. With his resignation letter in hand, he challenged the Chief Minister to prove his sincerity by doing the same, emphasizing his commitment to the welfare of the people over political posturing.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had recently pledged to implement a Rs 2 lakh crore crop loan waiver by August 15, prompting Harish Rao to question whether he would resign if the promises were not fulfilled. In a daring move, Harish Rao offered to step down from his MLA position and abstain from byelections if necessary. However, Revanth Reddy countered by daring Harish Rao to dissolve the BRS should he fulfill his promise.
Undeterred, Harish Rao arrived at the Martyrs Memorial, paying homage to the Telangana martyrs before presenting his resignation letter to the media. Speaking passionately, he reiterated his commitment to resign if the guarantees were met, challenging Revanth Reddy to do the same. Should the government fail to deliver by August 15, intellectuals would present his resignation letter to the Governor.
Tension mounted as BRS activists gathered at Gun Park, only to be dispersed by police citing Section 144 of CrPC. Despite obstacles, Harish Rao’s message resonated, highlighting the gravity of the situation and the stakes involved.
