Back when Huawei introduced its HarmonyOS operating system, speculations soon arose that coming Smartphones will choose that above Android. Since then we’ve seen the appearance of the Mate 30 series which still runs with an AOSP build of Android and is prominently missing Google Mobile Services (GMS).
Huawei’s President (GMC), Joy Tan approved that the organization will proceed to depend on Android for its Smartphones soon as turning to a different Operating System would not only need numerous years of work but would also be a test for users trust. With so many Huawei users reliant on GMS, the organization would preferably focus its resources on additional expanding its app store and Mobile Services to serve as a replacement to the google app services.
Without a robust app store ecosystem, Huawei will not be capable to give its international users a viable alternative. On the other hand, attracting a large enough developer association is no easy achievement but it would still be the sensible move for Huawei at this point of time.
