The Indian High Commission in this country has announced that India will contribute an extra LKR 23 million (about Rs 58,75,900) to the training of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.
When he met with a senior local military delegation here on Friday, acting Indian High Commissioner Satyanjal Pandey conveyed this to Sri Lanka.
The Indian mission posted on X that the Army Delegation, led by Maj Gen Chandana Wickramasinghe, met with Acting HC @DrSatyanjal to discuss the conduct of the upcoming bilateral exercise between the Armies and Air Forces of India and Sri Lanka, called Exercise Mitra Shakti.
Without providing further information, it stated, “Additional funding of LKR 23 million for training of Sri Lankan Armed Forces announced by India.”
According to a release, the Sri Lankan side expressed its appreciation to India for the capacity-building assistance given to the country’s armed forces and expressed anticipation for more interactions.
