An Indian-American loses his life while saving his son
An Indian-American father of two tragically lost his life while rescuing his child from a riptide during a family outing at Panther Beach in Santa Cruz, California. Srinivasa Murthy Jonnalagadda, who did not know how to swim, was enjoying the beach with his family when a large wave knocked his son down and began pulling him into the ocean.
Realizing his child was in danger, Indian-American Srinivasa rushed to save him with the help of a Good Samaritan. However, he was caught by the riptide and dragged into deeper waters while his family watched in horror.
Despite the efforts of emergency personnel who arrived at the scene, Srinivasa could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at Stanford Hospital. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including State Parks, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, and Santa Cruz Fire, were involved in the rescue operation.
A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to assist Srinivasa’s family with immediate expenses such as funeral costs, medical bills, and unforeseen financial obligations.
