During the day, Special Olympics announced the establishment of the Global Leadership Coalition for Inclusion, which aims to promote inclusive practices in education and sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Governments, industries, philanthropic organizations, and the development community have come together to support this effort, with a commitment to expand inclusive sports and education opportunities for over 2 million young people in more than 150,000 schools worldwide.
The Coalition’s discussions with Special Olympics Bharat and the Ministry of Education in India have already begun to introduce inclusive sports formats in schools and colleges.
