Indian student gets bail in an alleged hit-and-run case in Australia

According to a media report, an 18-year-old Indian student in Australia has been granted bail by an Australian court. The student, Vansh Khanna, allegedly hit three schoolboys at a crossing in Sydney and left the scene of the accident. Khanna was arrested and taken to a police station. He was later granted bail on the condition that he reports to the police, refrain from driving a car, and surrender his passport.

Emergency services responded to the incident after receiving reports that three boys, aged 12 and 13, had been struck by a car while crossing the road with a green pedestrian signal. The injured children received medical attention from New South Wales paramedics and were taken to the hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries to their legs and heads.

Police were informed that the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash did not stop or offer assistance. Witnesses reported that the driver did not stop after hitting the boys. Khanna has been charged with several offenses, including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, causing bodily harm by misconduct while in charge of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm, failing to stop and assist after impact causing injury, and proceeding through a red traffic light.

Khanna’s Honda Accord has been seized for examination, and his driver’s license has been suspended.
