It was a significant day for Apple enthusiasts in India as the first deliveries of the ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 series began on Friday. Customers at Apple BKC in Mumbai, Apple Saket in New Delhi, and other authorized resellers queued up early to receive their pre-ordered iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max models.
The company witnessed a strong surge in pre-orders for the locally manufactured iPhone 16, with analysts predicting a high number of upgrades this year due to more competitive pricing compared to the 15 series. Industry checks also suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro models are particularly in demand.
Apple’s momentum in India is further boosted by local production under the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme. From April to August FY25, Apple achieved $5 billion in iPhone exports from India, marking over 50% growth compared to the same period last year. The iPhone 16 models are being manufactured in India, with simultaneous launches alongside the global market.
