Is WhatsApp killing Indian’s Mind?

The social networking revolution gave birth to thousands of apps that made communication at the touch of a button. WhatsApp established itself as the major player among all other communication apps. But the same app is being misused to a large extent, and the promotion of ‘absurd content’ is not only affecting the app’s reputation, but also the mind of the reader.

With a recent message becoming viral, many Indians are in an awe. ‘When we receive a WhatsApp message from our close contacts, there is a high tendency to become judgmental to that post/message even before thinking rationally’ said a psychologist. The recent message ‘Bank pays INR 160 for INR 2000 as interest @ 8%, while it charges INR 260 for INR 2000 as interest @ 13%. Surprisingly, we end up paying INR 360 as GST while spending INR 2000 @ 18%’, has gone viral.

is whatsapp killing indian’s mind? For the ignorant, in many developed countries like Japan, banks pay ‘Negative Interest rate’. It means that the depositor has to pay a certain fee to the bank to secure his/her money. It’s quite common to charge a minimal interest rate of 10%-15% (annually) even in developed nations. And unknowingly, we did pay taxes @ 15%-20% before GST implementation. This kind of messages not only shadow the ‘real understanding’ of economics but also alters the reader’s mind. Dear readers, do understand the fact that, with growing economy, the interest on deposits will come down further, and the interest towards bank loans is also expected to come down. Let’s not share spam, and let us keep ourselves educated.
