Jeetan Patel has been appointed as the spin bowling consultant of the England national men’s team for the tours of South Africa and Sri Lanka, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Wednesday (December 4).
The former New Zealand spinner was a part of the England coaching setup in their recent T20I series against New Zealand. Currently playing for Wellington Firebirds, he has announced his retirement from Cricket Wellington and will play his last match in the Super Smash against Central Stags on December 18. He, however, remains contracted with Warwickshire.
He will rejoin the England team on December 24, ahead of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Centurion. He will continue in his role till the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, which starts in March 2020
