During the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2, JioCinema recorded over 257 million (2.57 crore) concurrent viewers, particularly during Shubhman Gill’s century for Gujarat Titans against Mumbai Indians in the first innings. Previously, Disney’s Hotstar held the record with over 250 million concurrent viewers for a cricket match in July 2019.
JioCinema’s viewership also reached significant numbers during other IPL matches, including 240 million viewers for a match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, where MS Dhoni‘s team defended against a high-octane run chase. JioCinema has achieved over 1.5 billion video views in the first seven weeks of this year’s IPL.
In the IPL 2023 final, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by five wickets (via DLS method) to win their fifth IPL title. The match was rescheduled and affected by rain and took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
