Tehran, a gripping spy action thriller headlined by John Abraham, has been making waves in the digital space. Directed by Arun Gopalan, the film was initially released directly on ZEE5, skipping a theatrical release. Inspired by the 2012 attacks on Israeli diplomats, the film explores tense geopolitical themes with a fast-paced narrative.
The cast also features Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chhillar in prominent roles, while Madhurima Tuli, Alyy Khan, and Elnaaz Norouzi appear in crucial supporting parts.
According to a report by OTT Play, Tehran is now gearing up for a Netflix premiere on August 26, 2025, as part of a broader digital rollout strategy. While an official announcement from Netflix is still awaited, the move seems aimed at expanding the film’s reach among global audiences and enthusiasts of political thrillers.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, in association with Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell of Bake My Cake Films, the film also boasts a strong soundtrack composed by Ketan Sodha and Tanishk Bagchi.
With positive reviews and encouraging viewership on ZEE5, the Netflix release could further boost Tehran’s popularity among international audiences.
