K Srikanth advances to the Round of 16 of the 2023 Japan Open.
On Tuesday, Indian badminton player Kidambi Srikanth secured a place in the Round of 16 at the Japan Open 2023 tournament by defeating Chou Tien Chen from Chinese Taipei. The former world number one Srikanth outplayed Chou Tien Chen with a scoreline of 21-13, 21-13 in a round of 32 match that lasted for 43 minutes.
In the next round (Round of 16), kidambi will face the winner between his compatriot Prannoy HS and China’s Li Shi Feng, who is the reigning All England 2023 champion. This match is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
Unfortunately, in the women’s singles opening round, Aakarshi Kashyap suffered a defeat with a score of 17-21, 17-21 against top-seeded Akane Yamaguchi.
In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy also faced defeat, losing to the pair of Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin from Chinese Taipei with a score of 21-18, 9-21, 18-21.
Up next, HS Prannoy will be competing against the All England Open champion Li Shi Feng from China.
