Kabir Singh Character Dissection by Vamsi Pujit
Kabir Singh is flawed, just like you and me. But are we as honest as he is?
If Kabir likes someone, first sight or 5100th sight, he can confidently walk towards them and say it, “Yes, I like you”.
Kabir isn’t like people who sugarcoat things, like how how typically they have these steps to propose someone,
1. Become friends.
2. Become their bestfriend.
3. Propose on their birthday by kneeling down in a fancy restaurant.
Kabir is not fake. He is an emotional fool. Kabir is selfish, just like us. I loved the way Sandeep Reddy Vanga had put him into extreme crisis in the second half for the actions he had taken since the beginning of the movie. Along with his anger there’s another inherited trait Kabir has which was narrated by his grandmom in the beginning of the movie, “Kabir wants what he wants, if not he gets into a stage of traught”. The whole character movie is about that.
What does Kabir loves the most?
– Grandmother.
– Family.
– Preethi.
– Profession.
– College. (And the place it’s located)
Except Shiva, he lost everything. That is because of the actions taken by his flawed mentality. Maybe, he wouldn’t have faced all this if he tried to settle things by being that,
Kabir: “Please let me marry your daughter, uncle, I’ll fall on your feet. I’ll always take your permission to kiss your daughter, honestly we haven’t even touched before, this is the first time…”
But that’s not him, he’s not a rebel without a cause. Kabir is not a misogynist, the way he explains about how to take care of someone who’s got their chums says it all, yes, he called a girl healthy, I don’t think that’s a wrong term to use.Kabir is foolish enough to think that casual-sex could help him forget Preethi, and why would that be wrong if it’s consensual? He’s always been that way, he’s honest, not sugar-coated, and for god’s sake, in the opening scene she called him for that kitchen sex, it ain’t rape.Kabir is a passionate guy, and Preethi might’ve got influenced by that, they love, they fight, they slap, they sleep, passionately. The graph of Preethi’s character was so smoothly done, this subtle, soft person is brave inside, and that comes out by the influence of her environment, which is Kabir, she gets a voice to talk to their parents, she slaps Kabir when he shouts at her, she becomes that hopeless romantic, and finally turns into someone who is brave and opinionated, who fights for what she loves. She’s a very strong person, stronger than Kabir.Kabir is not a bad guy, he’s not a misogynist, he’s just flawed, selfish, just like us. And brutally honest, unlike most of us.
