Kajal Aggarwal Wasn’t the First Choice for Parvati in Kannappa—Here’s Who Was
The mythological epic Kannappa continues to be the talk of the town, not only for its stellar ensemble but also for the intriguing casting changes that took place behind the scenes. While Kajal Aggarwal is now confirmed as Parvati Devi, it’s been revealed that she wasn’t the initial choice for the divine role.
Kangana Ranaut Was the First Pick
Producer-actor Manchu Vishnu, who plays a key role in the film and spearheads its production, originally envisioned Kangana Ranaut as Goddess Parvati. The Bollywood star was reportedly in early talks for the part, but scheduling conflicts and professional obligations made it impossible for her to commit.
With time running out and casting still pending, the team shifted focus and found their solution in Kajal Aggarwal—a decision that now seems to be paying off.
Kajal’s Casting Wasn’t Just Plan B
Kajal was a natural choice, given her graceful screen presence and mythological appeal. Notably, she shares a professional history with Manchu Vishnu, having played his sister in the 2021 thriller Mosagallu. This comfort level and working rapport reportedly influenced her decision to accept the role in Kannappa.
Additionally, Kajal has previously acted opposite Akshay Kumar, who is playing Lord Shiva in Kannappa—in the critically acclaimed Special 26. The pairing of Akshay and Kajal is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the screen.
A Divine Pairing That Clicks
Though she wasn’t the first choice, Kajal Aggarwal’s inclusion has reignited excitement around Kannappa. Her experience, charisma, and fan base make her a strong asset to the mythological film, which already features an ensemble cast and high production values.
Sometimes, a second choice turns out to be the best one—and Kannappa might just prove that Kajal was meant to be Parvati all along.
