Inauguration of the new terminal building of Kanpur airport
The new terminal building of Kanpur Airport will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and civil aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The government aims to improve connectivity and enhance the passenger experience with this new terminal, which is 16 times larger than the existing one.
The terminal integrates the culture and heritage of Kanpur and has a concessionaire area of 850 square meters, offering a variety of retail and dining options. It can accommodate 400 passengers during peak hours, compared to the existing building’s capacity of 50 passengers.
The terminal also provides ample parking spaces for cars and buses. Additionally, it features sustainability measures such as a double-insulated roofing system, energy-saving canopies, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, water treatment and sewage treatment plants, and the use of recycled water for landscaping.
The building’s exterior reflects the temple architecture of the famous JK Temple of Kanpur, while the interiors showcase local themes such as textiles, leather industries, and notable public figures of the city.
