Kantara Chapter 1 Boat Accident: Notices Issued to Film Team
The highly anticipated Kannada film Kantara Chapter 1, starring and directed by Rishab Shetty, has found itself in the midst of controversy following a recent accident during its shoot.
Boat Capsizes During Filming
The incident occurred near the Mani Reservoir in Shivamogga district, where the team was filming a sequence involving a boat. As per reports, the boat capsized with 32 people on board, including lead actor Rishab Shetty. Fortunately, all members of the unit swam safely to the shore, and no casualties were reported. A few individuals suffered minor injuries and are currently being treated at a private hospital in Shikaripura.
District Administration Issues Notices
Following the incident, the Shivamogga district administration has taken the matter seriously and initiated an inquiry into the shooting permissions and safety protocols followed by the film crew. District Magistrate Dr. Gurudatta Hegde confirmed that the film team had secured permission from authorities in Bangalore but failed to obtain clearance from the local district administration.
As a result, official notices have been issued to the Kantara team for non-compliance with local regulations and failure to ensure proper safety measures during the shoot.
Production House Reacts
Adarsh, executive producer from Hombale Films, clarified that the team had taken “all necessary precautions” and that there was no loss of life. However, the local authorities have raised questions about the authenticity and scope of those precautions.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
This is the latest in a string of troubling events for the film. Shockingly, three actors involved in Kantara Chapter 1 have already passed away due to unrelated causes over the past few months, casting a shadow over the production.
Despite these setbacks, the film continues to generate massive buzz as it serves as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, also directed by Rishab Shetty.
