Roman Catholic Bishop Franco Mulakkal bail application rejected by the Kerala High Court Wednesday, arrested over claims of repeatedly raping and explicitly assaulting a nun. Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan expelled the bail application while tolerating the indictment contends that the blame, holding a high position in the society will endeavour to impact observers for the situation if that he is granted bail.
As per reports, the Kerala Police had said that since more grievances were being submitted, giving the accused bail would hamper the examination. On 24 September, the Pala Judicial Magistrate Court in Kottayam had remanded Mulakkal to legal custody till 6 October. He has been stopped in the Pala sub-jail for as far back as 10 days.
Franco Mulakkal, who has been blamed for assaulting a religious woman different occasions somewhere in the range of 2014 and 2016, was produced in a magistrate court in Pala on 22 September and has been sent to police custody till 24 September. His legal advisor had petitioned for a bail application, which was rejected by the judge court. The nun said she needed to approach the police as church authorities did not follow up on her repeated complaints against the minister. In any case, the religious administrator has denied the charges.
