Kuberaa: Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Star in Sekhar Kammula’s Gritty Social Drama Releasing June 20
Director Sekhar Kammula, known for his meaningful storytelling, is back with a powerful social drama titled Kuberaa. Headlined by Dhanush and Nagarjuna, the film also features Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh in crucial roles.
Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Rammohan Rao, Kuberaa is slated for a June 20, 2025 release. The movie will be released in Telugu and Tamil, with dubbed versions in Hindi to reach a wider audience.
How the Film Began
Speaking about the film’s journey, the producers revealed that Kuberaa took shape shortly after Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story was released. “Sekhar narrated the concept to us and believed Dhanush would be ideal for the lead role. Dhanush instantly connected with the story and signed on within 20 minutes,” they said.
A Tale of Stark Contrasts
The heart of Kuberaa lies in its poignant theme: the collision between the richest man in the world and the poorest man on the streets. This contrast forms the movie’s central conflict and emotional core.
Realistic Filming & Stellar Performances
The team filmed extensively in real locations—including slums, dumping yards, and streets in Mumbai—to preserve the film’s authenticity. “Shooting on real streets was challenging but necessary to ground the narrative,” said the makers.
Working with Nagarjuna was another milestone. “We always wanted to collaborate with him, and when he heard the story, he gave an incredible performance. It’s impossible to imagine anyone else in that role,” the producers added.
With the first copy of the film ready, the team is highly confident in the outcome and is already planning a future project with Sekhar Kammula, although the lead actor for that venture is yet to be decided.
