Kuberaa Runtime Sparks Debate as Dhanush’s Film Nears Release
Dhanush’s second Telugu outing, Kuberaa, is grabbing headlines — not just for its star-studded cast or storyline, but for its extended runtime, which has fans slightly anxious ahead of its June 20 release.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film features Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles. Though Kuberaa has wrapped its censor formalities and received a U/A certificate, its runtime — initially over 3 hours and 15 minutes — has raised eyebrows. After trimming about 14 minutes following censor board suggestions, the final cut clocks in at around 3 hours and 1 minute.
This has led to buzz (and a bit of nervousness) among fans. Recent big-budget films like Indian 2 and Retro, both with similar runtimes, failed to sustain audience attention throughout, making Kuberaa‘s length a possible double-edged sword.
Still, the film has plenty going for it. The trailer teased a gripping emotional drama, Devi Sri Prasad’s music has sparked positive early reactions, and the casting of Nagarjuna in a powerful supporting role adds further star power. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, while the film is produced on a lavish scale by Sunil Narang and Ram Mohan Rao under Asian Cinemas.
Dhanush fans remain cautiously optimistic, placing their trust in Sekhar Kammula’s narrative strength. The question now is — can Kuberaa justify its runtime with a compelling story, or will it face the same fate as other recent lengthy releases?
