Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) crushed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 56 runs in a remarkable display of batting and bowling, In an IPL 2023 match at IS Bindra Stadium. With the victory, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) rose to the second position in the 10-team standings with 10 points in eight matches, while Punjab Kings (PBKS) found themselves in the sixth position with eight points.

In response, PBKS got off to a shaky start as Stoinis removed Shikhar Dhawan for just one run in the first over. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh in the fourth over, which put PBKS on the back foot early in the chase. Atharv Taide and Sikander Raza steadied the innings with a 78-run partnership, but it all fell apart soon after as the rest of the batsmen struggled to keep up with the required run rate.

Raza’s breezy knock of 36 off 22 balls ended in the 12th over, and Taide completed his maiden fifty in 26 balls before he was dismissed for 66. PBKS’s hopes were dashed as they lost three wickets in quick succession in the middle overs, with LSG’s bowlers Ravi Bishnoi, Yash Thakur, and Naveen-ul-Haq taking crucial wickets.

Despite Jitesh Sharma’s cameo of 18 off just six balls, PBKS could only manage 201/10 in 19.5 overs, falling short of the target by 56 runs. Yash Thakur was the star of LSG’s bowling attack, taking four wickets for 37 runs, while Naveen-ul-Haq picked up three wickets for 30 runs.

Earlier, LSG lost their skipper KL Rahul early in the powerplay, but Mayers’ half-century off just 20 balls kept the scoreboard ticking. Stoinis and Badoni built on the foundation set by Mayers, and Pooran’s late cameo ensured that LSG posted a formidable total.
