Mahavatar Narsimha Storms the Box Office
Mahavatar Narsimha is turning out to be nothing short of a magical ride at the box office. The film has been performing exceptionally well ever since its release, and its momentum is only growing stronger by the day. Starting with just 1,200 shows on August 14th, the film has now expanded to a staggering 4,600+ shows nationwide. With its unstoppable run, Mahavatar Narsimha is on the verge of entering the prestigious ₹300 Cr worldwide gross club.
This juggernaut has made survival extremely tough for other biggies like War 2 and Coolie, both of which hit theatres during the Independence Day weekend. Unfortunately, neither film managed to impress audiences. While Coolie secured some decent openings, War 2 quickly slipped into disaster talk.
The current weekend will be crucial for both films. Coolie still has a fighting chance to achieve breakeven in select territories if it performs well on Saturday and Sunday. War 2, however, is staring at a bleak future in the South, especially in Telugu states, where it has been branded a flop. Its only hope lies in the Hindi belt, where some traction might help recover partial losses.
Meanwhile, moviegoers are left disappointed with the lack of strong content either in theatres or on OTT this weekend. Yet, once again, the success of Mahavatar Narsimha proves a golden truth—only powerful content and positive word of mouth can pull crowds back to theatres.
