Animated epic Mahavatar Narsimha is scripting history at the box office with a phenomenal run. What began with a modest opening of around ₹2 crore gross has now skyrocketed to a massive ₹300 crore worldwide gross. Despite multiple new releases flooding the marketplace, the film continues to register strong occupancies across territories.
The Telugu dubbed version has turned out to be a blockbuster in its own right, delivering huge profits for distributors. The film is now on the verge of crossing the $1 million milestone in North America — a rare feat for a dubbed animated movie.
Even more remarkable is that the Telugu version ($908K) is leading overseas collections, surpassing the Hindi version ($747K). With positive word of mouth and consistent audience pull, the film is expected to mint decent shares over the next two weeks.
Directed by Ashwin Kumar, Mahavatar Narsimha is the first installment of the ambitious seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU). With its impactful storytelling and stunning visuals, the film has proven that great content can shatter barriers, even at a time when big-star films are struggling at the box office.
