Hyderabad movie lovers finally have a reason to celebrate as the iconic IMAX experience is officially making a comeback to the city. A few days ago, Asian Suniel revealed that IMAX would return to Hyderabad, creating huge excitement among cinema fans. Now, the latest buzz is that AMB Classic Sudarshan, co-owned by Superstar Mahesh Babu, will house the prestigious IMAX screen.
According to Variety India, IMAX Corporation and Asian Cinemas have partnered to launch three new IMAX with Laser locations across India under the AMB Cinemas brand. The first among them is set to open at AMB Classic in Hyderabad.
Reports suggest that the new IMAX screen at AMB Classic is expected to open before the end of 2026. Hyderabad previously lost its IMAX presence in 2015 after the closure of Prasad’s IMAX, which was once one of India’s most iconic IMAX destinations and a major milestone in the brand’s international expansion.
Speaking about the collaboration, Suniel Narang and Bharat Narang said that Hyderabad’s passion for cinema is unmatched and bringing IMAX back to the city is a matter of great pride for AMB Cinemas. They added that the brand has always stood for quality and cinematic excellence, making the partnership with IMAX a perfect step toward delivering world-class movie experiences to audiences.
Giovanni Dolci, Chief Commercial Officer of IMAX, also highlighted the importance of Hyderabad, saying the city was one of the major places where IMAX lacked a presence. He noted that while the demand for IMAX is evident from people traveling long distances to experience it, the goal is to make the format accessible to more audiences across key cities like Hyderabad.
