Mammootty’s Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse Set for OTT Debut on Amazon Prime Video
At the beginning of 2025, Malayalam cinema saw the release of Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, a mystery-comedy thriller that marked the Mollywood directorial debut of acclaimed filmmaker Gautham Menon. The film stars legendary actor Mammootty as Dominic, a sharp-witted ex-cop turned private detective, who takes on a seemingly simple case—tracing the owner of a lost ladies’ purse. But as expected, the story spirals into an intriguing chain of events.
Though the film hit theatres over six months ago, it has remained conspicuously absent from OTT platforms—until now. After much delay in securing a digital partner, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse have reportedly found a home. Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights, and the film is expected to premiere on the platform soon, much to the delight of Mammootty’s fans.
Upon its theatrical release, the film received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for its performances and novelty, but some criticism for pacing and tonal inconsistencies. The box office performance also fell short of expectations. However, interest in the film has grown steadily online, particularly due to its unique genre blend and Mammootty’s portrayal in a quirky detective role.
Mammootty himself produced the film under his home banner, Mammootty Kampany. It features an ensemble cast including Gokul Suresh, Sushmita Bhat, Viji Venkatesh, and veteran actor Siddique.
Stay tuned for the official OTT release date announcement—Dominic may soon be solving mysteries in your living room.
