Police in Greater Noida on Thursday detained a 28-year-old man who they said had sexually assaulted a female dog and thrown her to the ground from his third-floor home.
The accused was walking his dog on the balcony of his third-floor home in the Alpha 2 neighborhood at around midnight when the incident occurred, but a neighbor saw him and called the police, according to the accused.
“The accused threw the female dog from the balcony onto the street after hearing the neighbor scream. The canine has wounds. The local Beta 2 police station’s in-charge, Vinod Kumar Mishra, told PTI that the accused was taken into custody this evening following the filing of a formal complaint.
“The defendant is employed by a private construction firm. He appeared to be under the influence of a toxic substance at the time of the incident, Mishra continued.
The accused has been charged under The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, as well as Indian Penal Code Section 377, which prohibits having sex with any man, woman, or animal against the natural order.
The police also stated that additional legal proceedings are being filed in this case.
